United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT)

Terrorist attacks, especially after the terrorist assault on September 11th, 2001, put at risk international peace and security, so the world took real awareness of the true impact that terrorist attacks could provoke. For that reason, five years later, the United Nations Security Council attended this concern and approved the resolution 1373 for the formation of a Counter-Terrorism Committee.

UNOCT is intended to erradicate international terrorism and to systematically eliminate the so-called terrorist groups and their relationship with different States. Therefore, the United Nations Security Council, to improve the works done by UNOCT, also created the United Nations Global Strategy against Terrorism.
